Color Chart book, Nicole Kirkpatrick

I loved this idea and will be doing this one with my students. What a great way to get the mind working. Using colored (free) swatches from paint stores, we were to chose a certain number and looking at the name of the paint, draw the first thing that comes to our mind. It could relate to the name or it didn't have to. Loved this one!

I enjoyed this project very much. By simply using the color swatch names as a prompt, we were able to be spontaneously more creative than if our only prompt was the color (given certain connotations and generalizations associated with certain colors).

This project was an interesting stretch for me. I have a tendency to want all my drawings to be "perfect" when I only had approx. one minute to think of something the color on the card reminded me about and then sketch it...perfect and slow was not an option.
