Susan Striepe—Paper + Tape Book
This book was a creative challenge. Transforming two unrelated materials into one single product was exciting. The possibilities of so many resolutions were looming on the horizon. Conservative ideas drove me into action and as the process developed it seemed that the materials themselves had their own voice and took over. Ultimately, I was surprised at the correlation between scotch tape and encaustic. It poses as a wonderful sketch mode for this medium. Also, a more safe option for younger students, as encaustic has some safety issues.
